Our first meeting was a real success! She’s a genuinely nice person and fun to get to know. I actually would have been quite surprised if this turned out like a bad date she is very easy to talk to. Another reason I like Carm is that she’s very knowledgeable she taught me how to be “Ambimoustrous”! I’m looking forward to another meetup!
Finally made it to this local destination AND got to meet up with one of my favorite peeps on 43peoplecom ! The donuts were tasty~ Carm and I shared a yummy raspberry & then each had a pumpkin donut with our tea. Fried foods tend to “come back” at me,awhile after eating.(I know TMI) I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t experience that with these donuts. It must have something to do with the fact that they’re vegan or something ?
with this corner of England! Some of the most beautiful gardens and coastal scenery that I have ever had the pleasure of exploring with a group of fellow Master Gardeners. I want to go back and share it with my husband, as well as gorge myself on the clotted cream & scones served in the National Trust tearooms!
"It was totally uplanned & Exhilirating !"
How I did it: On a non-rev day trip to San Francisco in 2000, I wanted to show my friend the shop in North Beach where scenes from  "So I Married An Ax Murderer" were filmed. It turned out to be an art gallery ~ The North Beach Gallery. This gallery had previously been a butcher shop and was called Meats of the World in the movie.  As fate would have it, there was a collection of Jim Leff's work on exhibit. I felt instantly drawn to a particular piece titled Ex-Patriot in Yelapa. The gallery owner took it down from the wall and carrying it into the old "meat locker" where a viewing room had been set up with spotlights and a couch. He carefully re-hung it and said to take as much time as we liked enjoying the piece. I knew I wanted it before it had been placed back on the wall! I charged it, had it packed up & shipped home.
Lessons & tips: I've never made such an extravagant purchase in such a short time. Usually walking away to give myself 24 hours to think about it.(I Â broke this rule since I was leaving in a couple of hours to fly back to Seattle.) I've never regretted this gift to myself & my husband (turns out he likes it almost as much as me !) Â I now check myself at the door when entering any art gallery! And try to frequent Museums as much as possible to get my art fix. The price of admission is a bargain ..
It took me 1 day.
It made me Gobsmacked !
In the evening take the elevator to the top floor then climb the stairwell to the rooftop. You will be awestruck by the view of the “City Of Lights”. Wish my had been more familiar with my camera settings at the time I had taken this picture.
Galeries Lafayette is a throwback to the golden age of department stores when people would actually “dress-up” to spend the day shopping and out to lunch!
The domed ceiling is a work of art!
